The main goal of any linking strategy is to get increased visitors to a domain. Reciprocal linking can work for or against you in this matter depending on the site that you exchange links with. If you exchange links with sites that receive much traffic, some of that traffic might be diverted to your internet site. On the other hand, if you exchange links with a low traffic site, you will divert some of your traffic to the other site without seeing an analogous return. Ideally, you would try to exchange links with sites that have at least a PR four.
Two. Don’t exchange links with everybody that asks. What advantage is there in trading links with a site that sells wedding favors when your internet site is about dog training? Anyone that visits the wedding favor site will be trying to find info about marriages, not dog training, and only a few will click on your link irrespective of how high the page rank is for the marriage site. The key here is to exchange links only with sites that are relevant to your website or to your keywords. Three. Avoid swapping links with sites that have a large link directory. If your internet site is listed on page 43 in your class of another site’s link directory, few people will ever see your link. Although a link will be generated to your internet site for the search engines, you will not receive much traffic from the link exchange. 4. Build on-line relations. Swapping links with other topical websites is a great way to begin building partnerships with other website owners and may open the door for future joint venture requests.
Five. Build your link recognition. But again, make sure that all reciprocal links have relevancy to your internet site or the search engines will penalize you.
Avoid link farms or link exchanges which will instantly exchange your link with their complete database with no regard for the relevancy to your site.
The best way to set up a link page is to enter all links by hand. Yes, it is time-intensive but when you’re starting, this is the only way to do it. You would first need to set up a page on your website exclusively for your link categories. You can call the current page anything you like like Links, My Partners, Link Partners, My Link Partners, for example. Set up this page with the major categories and subcategories that are important to your website. Test to be certain that whenever any one clicks on a subcategory that they are taken to the right link page.
Prepare a short 3 – 5 line ad about your website or your product and include the URL to your website. This should be in HTML code for simple uploading. Each linking company has their own process, but sometimes, each time you ask to exchange links, you will have to copy and paste the other site’s HTML code on to your link page under the correct class and subcategory. You’ll then have to upload the updated page to your internet site.
Once this is done, let the other web site know on which of your pages they can find their link. If the other web site owner approves the link exchange, they should add your link to their link page and tell you on exactly what page you’ll find it.
Check to make sure that your link has been added to their site. If they haven’t added your link, you’ve got the choice of contacting the internet site owner as to why or of removing their link from your website.
However [*COMMA] reciprocal linking isn’t necessarily the best choice. Many are convinced that Google appears to like one-way links. There are some great tools available today that will assist you in achieving this.
